چکیده

OXALATE Stone powder (2-3 mg) is moistened on an ordinary glass slide with two to three drops of 20% nitric acid and is slowly heated over a small flame to dryness and then for a further 5-10 seconds but without charring. The following results may be noticed: (a) formation of a conspicuous reddish-brown froth indicating ammonium urate; (b) formation ofa flat purplish-brown layer, evidence of uric acid. (Energetic oxidation of uric acid by heat and nitric acid decomposes the intermediate split-product alloxanthin sufficiently for the evaporating ammonia to produce at least partly the characteristic purple coloured murexide, the ammonium salt of purpuric acid); (c) total combustion, except for a small charred sticky part, often accompanied by a disagreeable smell-evidence of cystine; (d) a greyish-white layer, indicating oxalate, phosphate or both; (e) a whitish-green layer, evidence of xanthine. Addition of potassium hydroxide produces a brilliant red colour; (f) whatever the outcome of the procedure with heat and nitricacid, theresidueon the slide is still fit for

A combined qualitative and quantitative procedure for the chemical analysis of urinary calculi.

A better understanding of the physico-chemical principles underlying the formation of calculus has led to a need for more precise information on the chemical composition of stones. A combined qualitative and quantitative procedure for the chemical analysis of urinary calculi which is suitable for routine use is presented. The procedure involves five simple qualitative tests followed by the quan...

بررسی رابطه باکتری‌های شایع در عفونت ادراری با سنگ ادراری در بیمارستان لبافی نژاد در سال 1383

Background: Urinary calculi comprise one of the major and widespread problems in the urinary tract. Various factors play a role in the formation of urinary stones including nutrition, weather, sex, genes, and urease producing bacteria. The incidence of urinary stones in different societies ranges from 3 to 4 percent. This survey was done in 2004 on 100 patients presenting with urinary calculi ...

Analysis of urinary calculi by chemical methods.

Two hundred twelve samples from 90 stones obtained from one hundred consecutive children with bladder stone disease (BSD) were analysed by qualitative and quantitative chemical methods. Majority (72%) of the stones were spherical in shape while 51% had mammilated surface. Children in older age group had heavier stones (P <0.05). The calculi were predominantly of mixed type (88.9%). Calcium oxal...
